Thefts From Vehicles

For Immediate Release

February 14, 2017  10:45 AM

The Colusa County Sheriff’s Office is reminding county residents of the importance of locking their vehicles and residences at night as well as reporting any suspicious activity they might observe.

For a week to ten days the county has experienced a rash of thefts from unlocked vehicles occurring around the county.  Six thefts have been reported to the Sheriff’s Office so far.  Thefts (known so far) have occurred in rural areas outside of Williams, Arbuckle, Grimes and Maxwell.

Suspect(s) appear to target unlocked vehicles taking miscellaneous paperwork, cash, guns and personal property.  In one incident suspects entered an unlocked garage where they took property from an unlocked vehicle that was in the garage.  In that case gas cans and a hunting pack was also taken.  Suspects have also stolen DMV registration cards from the vehicles as well.

Again, please lock your vehicles and residences at night or when you are away from your home.  Report any suspicious activity you observe by calling the Colusa County Sheriff’s Office at (530) 458-0200, or in an emergency dial 911.
