Home Generated Sharps Waste

ATTENTION: Our office is now located at 146 7th Street, Colusa

In September 2008 it became illegal to dispose of medical sharps in the regular trash due to the hazard it posed to those who received, transported and disposed of household trash. As more and more people are using medical sharps at home, whether for human or animal medical treatment, there is a need for a easy and safe way to dispose of home generated sharps. Colusa County's Home Generated Sharps program gives Colusa County residents free sharps disposal containers. These containers are designed to keep people safe and keeps sharps securely contained. After use, the free sharps container can now be deposited in any of the sharps disposal kiosks located around the county. Do not fill the home container above the designated line printed on the front lable and do not deposit loose sharps into the kiosk, use one of the free sharps containers provided by Colusa County Environmental health.
