The Explorer Program consists of young men and women ages 14 to 20 years old. It was established to:
Provide a volunteer resource for the sheriff's office to use in non-enforcement activities
Provide good, wholesome activities for the county's young men and women
Provide the opportunity for young men and women to develop good organizational and leadership skills
Teach explorers about law enforcement as a possible career under the direction of law enforcement officers
The Sheriff's Explorer Post 664 is chartered from the Boy Scouts of America. The post organization includes a leadership committee, which consists of members of the sheriff's office administration and the sheriff, who chairs the organization.
