Senior Nutrition
Colusa County Public Health’s congregate services have resumed!
Our mission is to assist older adults in Colusa County to live independently by promoting better health, improving nutrition, and reducing social isolation through programs coordinated with nutrition-related supportive services.
Our Senior Nutrition Program provides meals to older adults 60 years of age or older, though a spouse may qualify even if they do not meet the age requirement. Depending on eligibility, our program offers two meal services, one at the congregate site and the other through homebound delivery.
The congregate site provides hot coffee and nutritious meals in a group setting. The purpose of the site is to promote social interaction for older adults at risk of isolation. We provide recreational and social activities such as puzzles, bingo, and nutrition education. Participants are able to bring a guest, however, there is a guest fee of $4.00 and they must RSVP the day before. Our current congregate site is open from 11:00AM-1:00PM and is located at:
Williams Community Church
315 9th St, Williams, CA 95987
If you wish to join us during lunch, it is important to RSVP beforehand. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your reservation. Transportation services are available; please call our office (530) 458-0380 for more information.
For our homebound delivery a formal needs assessment is required for participation. This requires a home visit by the public health staff.
To be eligible for home-delivered meals, the older adult must be:
- Age 60 or older
- Homebound due to illness, incapacity and disability
- On medications that keep you home
Determined to be in need of service within the policies set by the Area Agency on Aging and the nutrition service provider
A certified dietitian approves the monthly menu plan to assure the program serves nutritious and well-balanced meals. Colusa County Department of Health and Human Services and the Area III Agency on Aging fund the Senior Nutrition Program. Although our program is free of cost, donations are suggested and appreciated.
We look forward to having lunch with you!
