Volunteering at the Library

The Colusa County Free Library’s Volunteer Program includes a wide array of volunteer opportunities that truly meet the needs of our public library and its surrounding communities, at all seven branch locations.

General Library

Volunteers are needed to help with general library tasks, such as:

  • Shelving books
  • Processing books
  • Cleaning and tidying book areas
  • Gardening

Contact Library Director, Stacey Zwald Costello, if you are interested in volunteering at any of the branch locations.

Literacy Program

The Literacy Program’s Adult Education Program is made up of life-long learners, who need assistance reading and writing above a sixth-grade level - something that 1/3 of Colusa County residents currently struggle with. When you help someone to read, you change a life!

If you are 17 years of age or older and are interested in donating one hour per week working with an assigned learner, contact Literacy Coordinator Pamela DaGrossa.

Children’s Programming

Story Time

Volunteers are needed for Story Time (Thursdays - 6:30 to 7:30) at the Colusa library branch. Volunteers are needed to read to children and to help with crafts.

Summer Reading Program

Each summer, more than 200 elementary-aged students participate in a six-week-long summer reading program. Volunteers are needed to assist in the preparation and implementation of this important program.

To assist with Children’s programming, contact Gabriela Silva, Youth Services Coordinator.
