At the June 13, 2017 Colusa County Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board appointed five individuals to the newly formed Colusa County Groundwater Commission. Their first meeting will be held Friday, June 16 at 1:00 p.m. at the Colusa Industrial Properties Conference Room. For more information, see the MEETINGS page of this website.

The Colusa County GSA Workgroup has finalized the Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement Establishing the Colusa Groundwater Authority (5/11/2017)

The agencies forming the Colusa Groundwater Authority will be holding public hearings in May and June to consider the adoption of a resolution approving the Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement Establishing the Colusa Groundwater Authority. The notice is scheduled to run in the Colusa Sun Herald Newspaper May 17, 2017, May 24, and May 31, 2017.


A fact sheet on the SGMA Draft Emergency Regulation for State Intervention Fees is now available:

: This new tool allows local agencies, groundwater sustainability agencies (GSAs), and watermasters to submit, modify, and view the information required by the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA), and enables the public and interested stakeholders to view submitted information and provide comments, where applicable.

On May 26, 2016, the Colusa County Private Pumper Advisory Committee (PPAC) sent a letter to all private pumpers in the County to provide them with information regarding SGMA implementation efforts in Colusa County, and to let them know how they can stay informed and engaged as critical groundwater management decisions are being made. Click here to read the letter.

The California Water Commission, at their May 18, 2016 meeting, approved the Groundwater Sustainability Plan Emergency Regulations. These regulations will guide GSAs as they implement SGMA locally. The regulations went into effect June 1, 2016.

Sustainable Groundwater Planning Grant Program
Colusa County has received grant funding from the 2015 Counties with Stressed Basins, Proposition 1 Sustainable Groundwater Planning Grant Program. This funding will be applied to development of a countywide groundwater monitoring and data management program. Information on funding recommendations, proposal evaluations and more can be viewed and downloaded at:
