In July 2016 the Colusa County Community Advocates for Parents & Children (CAPC) was successfully awarded a grant through the Office of Child Abuse Prevention (OCAP) and the California Department of Social Services to establish a Family Resource Center (FRC) in the town of Colusa.
The FRC works directly with the Colusa County Free Library and First 5 Colusa to provide a welcoming space for family engagement, parenting classes, and early learning through the Growing Start Parent Playgroups and other programs and activities.
Programs are run out of the main branch of the library and offer a safe place for children to interact with materials and learning opportunities while parents utilize services within the library as well as the Family Resource Center.
Some of the programs offered by the FRC include:
- CalFresh Application Assistance
- Family HUI
- Growing Start Parent Playgroups
- Nutrition & Parenting Classes
- Support for families in crisis
- Translation Services
For more information about any of the services offered, you can drop in to the main branch of the library, or visit: https://www.colusafrc.org/
